Geo Friends - Senior Capstone

Geo Friends is a series of soft plush characters that focus on nurturing positive environments. The ambiguous shapes allow users to form their own connections with the toy instead of being told what it is or how to play with it. These objects create an outlet for grounding, whether the user has a personal need for it, such as anxiety, or they are coming into a new situation, such as moving schools across the country, these friends will be a constant in their lives giving them support and comfort. They are designed to be both a tool for emotional needs, as well as be there during play time.

Skills Necessary:

Pattern making from scratch, sewing, embroidery, CMF, scale

Interview skills, research online as well as first hand, & learning from a playtest

Considerations for the project:

·Color palette needs to be non gender specific so that it can reach a large audience

·Fabric needs to be comfortable, machine washable, and no plastic parts (such as beaded eyes) to avoid any potential choking hazard

·Interviewing was done with both an industry professional (Mike Kane of KEK design) and multiple children to ensure the design would fit well in the market, and to collect as much first hand research as possible

·Creating multiple characters so there is a collection which creates a larger opportunity for a wide variety of play experiences. Whether the user has one or many plushies in the set, they can still have lots of fun and they are not required to have them all to be able to enjoy this product.
