Bug Builders - Modular Toy
Bug Builders is a modular toy that allows creativity and imagination to shine. By having many separate parts, kids can create any creature they can think of - whether inspired by something that exists already, or inventing a new type of critter. Since the product is made up of mainly wood and some plastic, this product is durable and can be played with indoors or outdoors, giving even more play opportunities and settings for these “bugs” to exist in.
Skills Necessary:
Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, digital conceptualization, photography and manipulating photos
Market research, conveying 2D into a 3D idea
Considerations for the Project:
·Have at least 6 separate components to allow a variety of parts to play with
·Don’t overly guide how to play with this set. If a child wants to create something non-creature related, that’s perfectly fine! The title of the product gives a starting prompt, but not to limit the importance of imaginative play and creating personal ideas into reality if the user thinks of another way to play with it
·Keep parts simple and ambiguous enough to allow them to be used in a variety of ways. Don’t want a piece that looks like a specific body part, or a kid might automatically put it where it naturally “belongs” (for ex: a hand would always go after the arms)
·Use durable and familiar materials - wood, and plastic
